Well, I took 5 minutes and started poking around in the settings for the theme I’m using…
…and I found that, if I disable the “rounding” setting for the featured images, the thing renders them properly. As squares, yeah, but otherwise properly. On a whim, I set it back to round and it resumed it’s absurd enlargement of only some of the featured photos, so I disabled it again.
It’s really stupid, because some posts use the same exact photo from the library (and, on some posts, it renders normally) but on others, is so large you can see it from the space station. So definitely a bug in the theme.
Anyway, we are going “square” for a while just so I can keep what is left of my sanity intact.
While I have your attention, I should probably mention that I successfully “upgraded” my Proxmox hypervisor from v8 to v9 this week; it took over 24 hours, but it’s my home lab so a little downtime never hurt anyone.
I intend to post a longer, much more detailed tome on everything I went through to get to 9, from my thinking and pre-planning process all the way up to firing up the VMs on the newly upgraded box. Look for that post “sometime”. That’s about all I can commit to right now, but I do want to get it all documented before I forget it all. And honestly, it’s not really “forgetting” so much as allowing other things to saturate my brain and push all my valuable upgrade memories into the corner.
