I’ve been semi-silent but I’ve been around. For starters, I finally got moving on the next phase of my over-the-air (OTA) TV reception project. This was the exciting part of the plan, and involved acquiring a Silicon Dust HD HomeRun Flex 4K antenna tuner. This delightful little device (and I do mean “little” — it’s quite literally about 3 inches square and half an inch tall — acts as a bridge between an HDTV television antenna and the local network and allows channeling up to 4 programs at a time to my Plex server. Via the Plex app, which runs on my phone, my TVs as well as my computers, I can tune into live TV at any time and from any location. Additionally, it offers an up to date channel guide and DVR functionality.
I have to resolve a power issue (i.e. the power strip we currently have is an outlet or two short) and then I’ll install the signal amplifier between the antenna and the HDHR to hopefully beef some of the signals up even more. (NBC is notoriously noisy.) But for the most part, I’m pretty happy with it.
Other than that, not much going on; I’ve been spending quite a bit of time learning and using Ansible as well as other programming and coding solutions. I hope to get some time soon to summarize everything I’ve gotten myself into.
